A Fresh Start: How to Know God

Maybe you’re here because you’re searching. Searching for hope, for answers, or for something that finally makes sense.

We believe that “something” is actually someone, Jesus.

This isn’t about rules or religion. It’s about a relationship. It’s about knowing the God who made you, who knows you by name, and who has more for your life than you could ever imagine.

Why do I even need this?

If we’re honest, we all sense that something’s broken, in the world, and in us.

The Bible calls that sin, but let’s keep it simple.

Sin isn’t just about “big mistakes” or a list of wrongs. It’s anytime we choose our own way over God’s way. It’s our pride, our selfishness, the hurtful things we think or do. It’s trying to run life on our own terms.

And that choice leaves us empty and separated from the very God who loves us. It creates a gap we can’t close by ourselves.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23, NIV)

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23, NIV)

The good news: God did something about it.

God loves you way too much to leave you stuck.
He made a way to restore your relationship with Him through Jesus.

But maybe you’re wondering, “How does this all work? What does it actually mean to know God?”

Here’s a simple way to understand it, broken down into four clear truths that show how you can start a real relationship with Him today:

1. God loves you and wants a close relationship with you.

From the very start, God created you to know Him personally. He sees you, knows you completely, and deeply loves you.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV)

Jesus said He came so we could have a full life, overflowing with meaning and joy.

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10, NIV)

2. We’re separated from God by sin.

We’ve all chosen our own way instead of God’s way. That breaks the connection we were meant to have with Him and leaves us spiritually empty.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23, NIV)

3. Jesus is God’s answer to our separation.

God didn’t wait for us to figure it out or fix ourselves.
He stepped in. Jesus, God’s own Son, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for your sins, and rose again.

Through Jesus, you can be completely forgiven and have a brand new life.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8, NIV)

Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6, NIV)

4. You can begin this relationship today.

It’s not about trying harder, being more religious, or getting your act together.

It’s about saying “Yes” to Jesus, trusting Him to forgive you, lead you, and give you new life.

“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12, NIV)

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9, NIV)

You can start a relationship with Him right now by simply talking to Him. Here’s a prayer you can use if you’re not sure what to say:

“Jesus, I know I’ve tried to do life on my own. I need You. I believe You died for me and rose again. Please forgive me. Come into my life and save me. Today I trust You as my Savior and Lord. Help me to follow You and live the life You created me for. Thank You for loving me. Amen.”
